We live in a society that is controlled by fatphobia - the fear of gaining weight.

If you are anything like me, this has led to a lot of negative beliefs systems about yourself + your body that then spiral into unhealthy ways of treating your body.

Today I want to discuss the fear that you have of gaining weight. Believe it or not, it is stopping you from becoming your best self by keeping you in the toxic trap of chronic dieting.

My goal is to help you start living a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life by helping you redefine your self by more than your body.

Most women stay stuck in vicious dieting cycles because they are scared that if they give themselves more food freedom, they will lose all control with their nutrition and gain a ton of weight.

Are you are in a weight loss plateau because your metabolism is really unhealthy and you find yourself having frequent over eating episodes that fill you with self doubt on your health and fitness journey?

Are you someone who needs/wants to gain a little bit of weight but are petrified about what that might look like and feel like you have no idea how to break your restrictive cycles without getting fat?

I want to assure you that more food ≠ weight gain.

I will repeat MORE FOOD ≠ WEIGHT GAIN.

I have been able to help over 300+ women eat hundreds of additional calories day without putting on body fat.

I use a technique called reverse dieting. The goal is to increase your metabolism so that you can eat more without putting on body fat.

How does it work? When you start eating more food, your body starts functioning better + burning more calories - actually helping your stay in a calorie maintenance.

During this process, not only with your body shape improve, but so will your digestion, hormones, energy levels, etc. (click here to learn more about reverse dieting)

So, stop fearing food because you think it will make you gain weight.

Now, here is the more important work when it comes to your fear of weight gain -

I want you to pull out a piece of paper and journal on this question.

Why are you scared to gain weight?

Why does that scare you? Why do you think that is true?

Continue asking yourself WHY until you get to the real underlying fear.

Getting to the real root of your fear of weight gain is really where you get the opportunity to make a change in your self image.

For me, this looked like this:

  • I am scared if I eat more, I will gain weight.
  • If I gain weight other people will judge me.
  • Others care more about how I look than my personality
  • I feel defined by my body.
  • I have to prove my worth to feel accepted by looking the best.
  • I am not enough.

You can see, my real limiting belief was that I am not enough. Which caused me to feel defined by external things like my body and needing to prove my worth through looking the best (leading to obsessive extreme dieting and exercise).

Use this journalling technique to figure out why your weight is so important to your self image that you are willing to remain stuck in self sabotaging unhealthy cycles of dieting.

Why is your weight such a heavy burden for you to carry? (not literally, but figuratively)

Now replace the limiting beliefs that come up for you with more positive ones!

This is the power of using things like affirmations, gratitude, and reflective journalling. Think about what you would tell someone you loved if you knew that they felt this way about themselves. Give yourself the same reminders.

Here are some that I have for you:

  • You are more than your body.

  • Your body is the least interesting thing about you.

  • Your body deserves proper nourishment and healthy movement.

  • You are so unique in every way - that is your super power.

  • You are beautiful and your energy is radiant.

  • You are loved just the way that you are.

All my love,

Gabby
